Mets vs Yankees predictions
When you look at the lineup the New York Mets are bringing to Yankee Stadium, there are a few guys to keep an eye on. Pete Alonso has been seeing the ball well this season and I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes through with another RBI or two. Francisco Lindor is another name you have to circle—he’s been driving the ball with decent pop, so there’s a real chance he adds to his home run total and picks up at least a couple of hits in this one. With Brett Baty also making contact consistently, the Mets should have no problem getting runners on base, and Jeff McNeil’s knack for finding the gaps could help move those runners around. Griffin Canning on the mound will face some pressure, but if he keeps his walks down and mixes his pitches, he could keep things close for five or six innings.
On the Yankees side, it all starts and ends with Aaron Judge right now. The man has been on an absolute tear—racking up home runs and driving in runners like clockwork. I’d bet on him adding another big hit or maybe even taking one deep tonight. Juan Soto should have a solid night at the plate as well, given his plate discipline and the success this lineup has had getting on base. Bellinger and Goldschmidt are both poised for multi-hit games—the Mets’ pitching staff will have their hands full trying to keep those two from starting any Yankee rallies. And don’t sleep on DJ LeMahieu or Anthony Volpe, who always seem to find ways to make things happen at home. On the mound, Clarke Schmidt has been settling in lately, and if he’s on his game, he’s absolutely capable of giving the Yankees a good six innings with plenty of strikeouts.
This Subway Series clash is shaping up to be one of those classic toss-ups, but with the Yankees riding a three-game home win streak and their bats looking lively, I like their chances to take this one. Yankee Stadium just feels electric when Judge and Soto are dialed in, and if Schmidt can keep the Mets’ big bats in check, New York’s American League squad should keep the momentum rolling. Mets fans might disagree, but right now, the Bronx looks like the place to be for another Yankees win. What’s your prediction for this city showdown?
