Cardinals vs Royals predictions
The St. Louis Cardinals are coming into this one with a serious spark, and it’s not hard to see why. Look for Brendan Donovan to keep his hot bat rolling—he’s been among the best in the lineup at getting on base, and I expect him to rack up another multi-hit game. Lars Nootbaar’s been quietly providing some pop, too, and with his knack for clutch at-bats, he’s got a good shot at driving one over the wall or at least snagging an extra-base hit. Don’t be surprised if Ivan Herrera also makes his presence felt, turning heads with his ability to cash in runners. Meanwhile, with Matthew Liberatore on the mound, the Cardinals have a solid shot at getting through five frames with limited damage and a healthy dose of strikeouts.
On the Kansas City Royals’ side, Bobby Witt Jr. has been a steady force at the top of the lineup, and he’s primed to do damage once again. I’m expecting Witt to reach base a few times and even show off his wheels—he always seems to find a way to create fireworks whether it’s with an extra-base hit or a stolen bag. Vinnie Pasquantino has been leaning into his power stroke, so don’t be shocked if he puts one in the seats or at least drives in a couple of runs. And of course, Michael Wacha is set to toe the rubber; he’s been remarkably reliable and should keep this one close, mixing his pitches effectively through the middle innings.
In the end, though, it feels like the Cardinals’ bats are heating up at the right time, and even on the road, their depth up and down the lineup gives them a slight edge. Both starters will have their moments, but the Cardinals’ ability to string together rallies and capitalize on opportunities should push them over the line. With the momentum of a win streak on their side, I like St. Louis to keep it rolling and take this one from the Royals at Kauffman Stadium. What do you think—are the birds set to soar again, or will KC defend their turf?
