Angels vs Athletics predictions
When you look at the Los Angeles Angels lineup heading into this matchup, a few names jump off the page with the potential to make a real impact. I’m keeping my eye on Taylor Ward. He’s already got 13 home runs this season, so don’t be surprised if he goes yard again—he’s due for a big swing. Nolan Schanuel has been steady all year and I’d expect him to reach base at least once or twice with his solid approach at the plate. Luis Rengifo and Logan O’Hoppe both feel like safe bets for clutch hits—O’Hoppe especially seems poised to drive in a run if the opportunity comes his way. And of course, there’s Jo Adell, who probably isn’t walking away from this one without a couple of quality at-bats and a run-producing moment.
As for the Athletics, they’ve quietly put up some impressive numbers, especially with Jacob Wilson leading the charge. With the way he’s been slashing, it’s reasonable to expect at least a couple of hits out of him, if not a multi-hit game. Brent Rooker always seems to be lurking with power potential, so pitching carefully to the middle of this order is going to be key for the Angels. And then you’ve got Tyler Soderstrom—he’s been driving in runs lately, and this feels like the kind of matchup where he could tally another RBI or two. JP Sears, the starting pitcher, might deliver a solid performance, especially if he manages his pitch count and keeps the ball in the yard—he’s shown he can strike out his fair share of batters.
With the Angels coming into the game on a bit of a hot streak and already up 2-0 in the season series, momentum is definitely on their side. However, the Athletics’ lineup runs deeper than many give them credit for, and the home crowd could give them an extra push. Ultimately, though, I’m leaning toward the Athletics snapping the Angels’ win streak in this one—Wilson and company should be able to generate enough offense to get the job done, especially if Sears delivers like he’s capable of on the mound. What do you think—is this the night the A’s turn the tide?
