Mets vs Dodgers predictions
When looking at the New York Mets heading into this matchup at Dodger Stadium, all eyes are going to be on guys like Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso to set the tone at the plate. Lindor’s been pretty hot recently, and it wouldn’t be a shock to see him notch another multi-hit game with maybe a homer mixed in—he’s been stroking it well all season. Alonso, of course, is always a threat to go deep, and facing Kershaw is never easy, but don’t be surprised if he finds a gap and drives in some much-needed runs. Youngsters like Luisangel Acuña could add some energy with a couple of timely base hits and maybe even swipe a bag if he gets on, while Tylor Megill’s job will be to keep the Dodgers’ elite lineup in check for at least five solid innings. His strikeout stuff is legit, but controlling the walks could make or break his night.
Over on the Dodgers’ side, you’ve got star power everywhere you look. Shohei Ohtani’s been absolutely mashing, so I wouldn’t put it past him to leave the yard again in this one and rack up a couple of RBIs. Freddie Freeman is basically a hitting machine at this point—he’s always good for a solid night with a few knocks, and probably a double into the gap. With Mookie Betts setting the table, you can see this offense clicking up and down the lineup; even Teoscar Hernandez seems poised to drive in a run or two. As for Clayton Kershaw, he might not be at his career peak anymore, but you can bet he’ll keep the Mets bats quiet for much of the night, giving up a couple runs but racking up the strikeouts to keep things steady until the bullpen takes over.
This one feels like a classic clash of two division leaders, but the edge goes to the Dodgers at home. Their lineup is just a little too deep and dangerous, especially with hitters like Ohtani and Freeman in the heart of it. Add in the Kershaw effect, especially in front of the LA crowd, and it’s tough to see the Mets keeping their win streak alive—though, if Lindor or Alonso get hot, anything’s possible in baseball. Still, look for the Dodgers to take this one and even the regular season series a bit. What do you think—is LA just too tough at home, or can the Mets pull off another statement win?
