Brewers vs Marlins predictions
If you’re following the Milwaukee Brewers this season, there’s a lot to like about their lineup as they take on the Miami Marlins at loanDepot park. Expect Sal Frelick to keep making noise at the plate—he’s been flirting with a .290s average and seems primed for a multi-hit game, maybe lacing a double or two. Christian Yelich is still the power bat to watch; don’t be surprised if he sends one deep and drives in a pair. On the mound, Chad Patrick is set to start, and he’s shown a knack for keeping the damage to a minimum, so a solid five-inning outing with just a couple of earned runs feels likely. Add in steady contributions from William Contreras and Brice Turang, and the Brewers lineup looks ready to put some runs on the board.
Switching over to the Marlins dugout, there’s some scrappiness in this Miami club despite their record. Xavier Edwards has quietly put together a nice campaign, and I could see him getting on base a couple of times and even swiping a bag—he’s just that kind of player. Kyle Stowers carries some pop and is always a threat to park one in the seats, while Otto Lopez should be good for a hit or two and possibly a run scored. Pitching-wise, Cal Quantrill has the tools to mix things up and could manage five solid innings, but control might be an issue if he starts to fall behind hitters. Miami might have to lean on timely hitting and speed to keep up, especially with their tendency to put lots of balls in play.
When it comes to picking a winner, it’s tough to look past the Brewers’ balance and late-game experience. Their combination of base-stealing ability, patience at the plate, and a power threat from Yelich could give them the edge—especially if Patrick gives them a quality start. The Marlins should make things interesting, but Milwaukee just seems to have a little more firepower and depth in this matchup. My money’s on the Brewers to take another game and stretch their lead in the series. What about you—do you think the Marlins have a surprise up their sleeve?
