Dodgers vs Cardinals predictions
Looking at the Dodgers lineup, a few names really jump out in this upcoming matchup against the Cardinals. Mookie Betts seems primed for another consistent night at the plate, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him notch at least a hit with a run scored—classic Betts, right? Shohei Ohtani is always a home run threat; even if he doesn’t leave the park, you have to expect he’ll be driving the ball and possibly collecting multiple hits with an RBI or two. And then there’s Freddie Freeman, who’s just been a machine lately—expect him to pepper a couple of hard-hit balls, maybe even flex those gap-to-gap skills for a double. All signs point to a productive night for the heart of the Dodgers’ order as they strive to snap their road skid.
Over on the St. Louis side, their bats have quietly been putting together a solid stretch, too. Brendan Donovan is the sparkplug, and his approach should help him grab a couple of hits and maybe even sneak in an extra-base hit. Willson Contreras, who’s been clutch for the Redbirds, looks good for driving in a run with his sneaky pop, while Nolan Arenado is always in the mix for a key hit in a clutch situation. And Lars Nootbaar, with his knack for getting on base, could be key if the Cards are going to string together some rally innings. Their lineup might not have the same power as LA’s, but St. Louis counters with depth and timely hitting, especially at Busch Stadium, where they’ve thrived.
With the Dodgers rolling out Clayton Kershaw on the hill, you have to like their chances to get back in the win column. The Cards have home-field advantage and a tough lineup, but if Ohtani and Freeman are locked in, and Kershaw delivers his usual mix of command and veteran savvy, LA fans should feel optimistic. Of course, don’t count St. Louis out—they have a way of rising to the occasion at home. But if I had to pick? I’m giving a slight edge to the Dodgers in this one, banking on their star power to halt that road skid and even up the series momentum. What do you think—does the LA firepower get it done, or will the Cardinals play spoiler again?
