Dodgers vs Cardinals predictions
When you look at the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup heading into this matchup, it’s almost impossible not to get hyped about what the bats might do at Busch Stadium. Freddie Freeman’s been an on-base machine, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him collect another multi-hit game, maybe even drive in a run or two. Shohei Ohtani always brings the fireworks—he’s absolutely capable of leaving the yard, plus you can pencil him in for at least a hit or two and a run scored. Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernandez add even more pop, and it feels like Betts is due to cross the plate while Teoscar could drive in a crucial run. With so many ways to manufacture offense, the Dodgers’ lineup can put up crooked numbers in a hurry.
Now, don't sleep on the St. Louis Cardinals, especially when you check out the home record they’ve put together this season. Brendan Donovan has quietly been putting together some quality at-bats, and my gut says he finds his way on base a couple times—maybe even sparks a rally. Nolan Arenado always seems to play bigger in these types of series, and I think he laces a hit and drives in a run to keep St. Louis in the conversation. Keep an eye on Lars Nootbaar too; he has a knack for coming up with clutch plays, and a big fly or a key RBI feels very much in play. The home crowd usually fuels this offense, so don’t be shocked if a few unexpected names get involved as well.
So, who’s got the edge in this one? With Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound for the Dodgers and all the firepower in their lineup, it’s hard to bet against Los Angeles, even on the road. The Cardinals have been feisty, especially at home, but the Dodgers’ combination of steady pitching and a relentless offense tips the scales. I’m leaning Los Angeles to even up the series, but expect the Cards to put up a fight and keep this one interesting right down to the final outs. What do you think—is tonight the Dodgers’ night, or will St. Louis keep rolling?
