Red Sox vs Yankees predictions
If you’re watching the Boston Red Sox, there’s a lot to keep your eyes on tonight—especially with Rafael Devers in the lineup. Devers is likely to make some noise at the plate with a solid chance to put one over the fence and drive in a couple of runs. Keep an eye on Jarren Duran too; his knack for getting on base and even swiping a bag could give the Yankees’ defense something extra to worry about. Hunter Dobbins will take the mound for Boston, and I’d say he’s in a spot to strike out his fair share of Yankees, but whether he can hold them to just a couple of runs across five or six innings will be the real test. With Rob Refsnyder and Romy Gonzalez projected to chip in with a hit or two apiece, the Sox offense might just surprise us if they get hot early.
Now, flipping over to the New York Yankees, you can’t mention this squad without talking about Aaron Judge. He’s been tearing it up and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him notch another home run and pick up a couple of RBIs. Carlos Rodon is set to start, and I think he’s in a solid position to rack up strikeouts and keep the Red Sox bats mostly in check through five or six frames. Cody Bellinger and Jasson Dominguez are both looking sharp, too—expect some multi-hit nights from those guys. When DJ LeMahieu and Anthony Volpe are seeing the ball well and getting on base, it just feeds into the Yankees’ run-producing machine. With all these bats lining up nicely behind Judge, it feels like the pinstripes are primed for a big showing.
So who takes the rubber match? While the Red Sox have some pop in their lineup and Hunter Dobbins could give them a fighting chance, the Yankees look a little too stacked both in pitching and at the plate. Between Rodon’s arm and the way Judge, Bellinger, and company have been swinging, my gut says New York holds serve at home. Yankee Stadium will be rocking, and the Bronx Bombers love nothing more than closing out a series against the Red Sox with a statement win. What do you think—could Boston pull off the upset, or is this just another chapter in a long Yankees' highlight reel?
