Rockies vs Red Sox predictions

Looking at the Colorado Rockies, there are a few players who could make some noise even as the team tries to shake off a tough season. Hunter Goodman has been swinging the bat well, and with his knack for putting the ball in play, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him tally another hit and maybe even drive in a run if he gets runners on base. Brenton Doyle and Jordan Beck bring sneaky speed and occasional pop, so keep an eye on them—either could swipe a bag or squeeze out an extra-base hit if Boston’s pitching leaves a ball hanging. On the mound, Kyle Freeland will have his hands full at Fenway, but if he can keep the ball on the ground and avoid the big inning, a quality start isn’t out of the question.

Switching sides, the Boston Red Sox have plenty of weapons, and it feels like tonight could showcase exactly that. Ceddanne Rafaela has been steady at the plate and solid in the outfield, which should help set the tone atop the order. I’m looking for Jarren Duran to grab a couple of hits and potentially take advantage of the Rockies’ pitching with his speed, maybe even turn a single into a double or score from first. Brayan Bello is set to start and, given his recent outings, I’m thinking he’s likely to record a good number of strikeouts and keep Colorado from stringing too many hits together. If Trevor Story gets hot, Boston’s run production could really take off.

Given how the numbers shake out and the way both teams are playing, Fenway should tilt in favor of the home side. Boston’s offense is just so much more dynamic, and with solid contributions up and down the lineup, they look ready to build on their series lead. The Rockies might scrap for a few runs, but the Red Sox simply have more firepower and momentum right now—so pencil me in for a Boston win tonight. Do you see the home team cruising, or will Colorado surprise us all?
