Guardians vs Tigers predictions
Let’s talk Guardians – specifically, the guys who could make some noise at Comerica. Steven Kwan’s been leading the way in the batting average department this season, and it’s hard not to expect another multi-hit game from him. I’m looking for Kwan to get on base at least a couple of times and maybe spark a run or two at the top of the lineup. Over at first, Kyle Manzardo has popped 10 home runs already, so he’s definitely got the pop to go yard if Flaherty hangs one up. Jose Ramirez – the heartbeat of the Guardians infield – is always a threat to drive in runs. If the Tigers’ starter slips, Ramirez is the guy you want at the plate, and I could easily see him knocking in a couple tonight. On the mound, Tanner Bibee feels poised for around five solid innings with steady strikeout stuff, even if Detroit's bats have been hot.
Looking at the Tigers, the home team isn’t just riding a win streak—they’re flat-out rolling, especially at Comerica where they’ve been almost impossible to beat. Riley Greene is really catching fire lately and I’d bet he adds a couple more hits, maybe even goes deep if he gets a good look. The real run producer has been Spencer Torkelson. With 39 RBIs and a knack for clutch knocks, he’s going to be a big problem for the Guardians’ pitching staff. And don’t sleep on Jack Flaherty, who feels like he’s locked in. Expect him to hit five or six innings, keeping the Tigers right in it before the bullpen takes over. If Kerry Carpenter stays patient and pokes one the other way, Detroit’s going to have this lineup firing on all cylinders.
When it’s all said and done, the edge has to go to the Tigers here. They’ve played lights out at home, scoring runs in bunches, and just seem to have an answer for any situation lately. The Guardians can keep it interesting—especially if their top guys find ways to reach base and drive the ball—but Detroit’s combination of power, clutch hitting, and Jack Flaherty’s recent form give them the upper hand. Fans in Detroit have every reason to believe that win streak at Comerica is about to hit four. What do you think—are the Tigers just too tough to topple at home right now?
