Rangers vs Mariners predictions

Game 4 between the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners is shaping up to be a showdown full of intriguing matchups, especially with Jacob deGrom set to take the mound for the Rangers. If you’ve followed Texas lately, you know that when deGrom is healthy and locked in, he can absolutely dominate — and the Mariners’ lineup will have their work cut out for them. Offensively, I’d keep an eye on Corey Seager, who’s been swinging a consistent bat all season and looks primed to do some real damage in this one. Meanwhile, Adolis Garcia has been clutch with runners in scoring position, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him knock in a run or two, especially with guys like Josh Smith and Marcus Semien setting the table.

As for the Mariners, Logan Evans gets the ball and faces the tall task of keeping the Rangers’ bats at bay, but I think we’ll see his strikeout numbers tick up early, especially given Texas’ tendency to be aggressive at the plate. In the batter’s box, Cal Raleigh has been the big power threat for Seattle and he’s just as likely to go deep as anyone, particularly if he gets a mistake over the plate. J.P. Crawford is another name to circle — with his knack for getting on base and setting up big innings, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him score and maybe even pick up an extra-base hit. Watch for Julio Rodriguez to create chaos on the basepaths, too. He’s always a threat to swipe a bag or spark a rally.

With the series so tight and the Mariners holding the edge both in the regular season and so far in this set, momentum feels like it favors Seattle — especially playing at T-Mobile Park. But don’t sleep on deGrom; if the Texas ace is on, he has the ability to turn the game on its head. My gut says this will be another nail-biter, but I like the Mariners’ overall consistency and knack for timely hitting, so I’m rolling with Seattle to take another close one and extend their lead in the AL West race. What do you think — can Texas flip the script, or will the Mariners keep rolling at home?
