Steelers vs Jets predictions

When you look at this Steelers squad, the eyes instantly drift to Aaron Rodgers and what kind of magic he’ll cook up in this matchup. There’s every reason to expect Rodgers to be slinging it all over MetLife, and if you’re a fantasy player, you’ve got to be interested in him posting around 200 yards and at least one—or maybe even two—touchdowns through the air. DK Metcalf should play a big role as Rodgers’ likely top target, eyeing something like 55–60 receiving yards and a possible score. On the ground, the combination of Kaleb Johnson and Jaylen Warren looks poised to split work, each probably grinding out 40-plus yards, while Warren might even rack up a few grabs out of the backfield. Add in Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith as Rodgers’ safety valves, and it wouldn’t surprise me to see each of them threaten double-digit fantasy points or sneak into the red zone at some point in this game.

Switching over to the Jets, there’s all kinds of curiosity surrounding Justin Fields and how he fits into their system. If he leans into his dual-threat talents, something in the range of 150–160 passing yards and a rushing total hovering above 40 yards seems reasonable, plus you can’t count him out for a possible touchdown or two—whether it’s his arm or his legs doing the work. Breece Hall always feels like a difference-maker, and he should top the 50-yard rushing mark and get involved as a pass-catcher as well, putting the Pittsburgh linebackers to the test. Don’t be shocked if Garrett Wilson leads the team in targets (he’s just too talented not to), possibly cashing in with 50 yards and a shot at paydirt, making him Fields’ go-to when the play breaks down. And if you’re into watching the tight ends, Mason Taylor could see a handful of decent looks, maybe even snagging a few crucial first downs.

Now, when it comes down to who’s taking this one, the Steelers have the slight edge for me. Rodgers brings experience, and his arsenal of weapons feels just a bit more polished than Fields’ supporting cast at this point. But hey, the Jets will definitely keep things interesting, especially if Fields can create with his legs and keep the Pittsburgh defense honest. Ultimately, I think the Steelers’ combination of steady quarterback play and a balanced attack is what pushes them over the top in a game that should be close throughout. If you like hard-nosed football with a few big-play moments, this one won’t disappoint.
