Pirates vs Mets predictions
The Pittsburgh Pirates come into Citi Field with a lineup that’s hungry to shake things up. I’m expecting Ke’Bryan Hayes to be a bright spot at the plate—he’s got a knack for finding gaps, and I see him notching right around a hit per game with a decent shot to get on base a couple of times. Oneil Cruz brings some excitement with his power, but don’t be surprised if the Mets’ pitching keeps him in check; still, I’d pencil him in for a potential extra-base hit and a possible RBI if he gets some support from the top of the lineup. Bryan Reynolds is the glue in the middle—he’s always a threat to drive in runs, and I’d peg him for a couple of hard-hit balls, maybe sneaking in an RBI if the Pirates can get runners on early.
The New York Mets, though, are red hot at home and it feels like their lineup is firing on all cylinders. Pete Alonso is the obvious headliner—he’s been raking lately and looks locked in for another solid game, likely pushing for a couple of hits, maybe even leaving the yard if Bailey Falter leaves one over the heart of the plate. Francisco Lindor always brings the energy, and I like his chances to contribute offensively, both by setting the table and with some pop from the left side. And don’t overlook Francisco Alvarez; he’s been quietly productive and this could be one of those nights where he chips in with a clutch RBI or two. All things considered, the depth of the Mets lineup just gives off the vibe that we’re going to see another spread-out offensive performance with plenty of traffic on the bases.
Looking at the matchup overall, it’s tough to bet against the New York Mets at Citi Field, especially with the win streak they’ve built up at home. The Pirates have a few intriguing pieces, but their offense has struggled to get going consistently this season. If the Mets keep putting pressure early, it’s hard to see Pittsburgh keeping pace. I like the Mets to keep the good times rolling and come away with another win, keeping the momentum on their side as the summer really gets going. What do you think—can anyone slow down this Mets squad right now?
