Brewers vs Nationals predictions
Brewers fans have to be loving what they’re seeing from William Contreras lately, especially coming off that insane 5-hit game. It feels like Contreras is locked in and ready to make some noise again, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he logs another multi-hit performance with a couple of impactful RBIs thrown in. Sal Frelick remains a tough out and should have a good chance of keeping his average up, probably reaching base at least once or twice. Personally, I’m watching for Christian Yelich to keep flexing his power—he’s been the Brewers’ go-to for the long ball and could definitely launch another one in this matchup. And don’t sleep on Brandon Woodruff on the mound; with his strikeout potential and ability to limit the big hits, he should put the Brewers in a prime spot to control the pace early.
On the flip side, the Nationals have a few bright spots worth watching, even with their struggles this season. CJ Abrams is just a spark plug at the top of the lineup, and I can totally see him turning in a solid game—maybe scoring a run and snagging a bag if he gets on base. James Wood is the real power threat here, and his bat always has a chance to change the game with one swing; he should drive in a run or two if he gets something to hit. As for Jake Irvin, he’s got his work cut out for him facing this dynamic Brewers order, but if he settles in, he could keep it competitive for five or six innings and rack up a handful of strikeouts. Still, it feels like the Nationals’ offense will need to string together some timely hits to keep things interesting.
When you put all the pieces together, it looks like the Brewers just have that edge right now—hot bats, sharp pitching, and a ton of momentum from their top guys. While the Nationals could definitely make things interesting with their young talent and speed, Milwaukee’s depth and recent consistency, especially with Contreras and Yelich leading the charge, make them tough to pick against. I’m rolling with the Brewers to take this one and keep their series dominance going in Washington. What do you think—do the Nats have a surprise in store, or is Milwaukee just too hot right now?
