Astros vs Guardians predictions

All eyes will be on the Houston Astros as they bring their AL West-leading swagger to Progressive Field. I’m expecting to see Jeremy Pena continue his hot streak at the plate; this guy has been flirting with .320 all season, and he’s primed to notch another multi-hit performance with a good chance to cross the plate at least once. Isaac Paredes is another name you can’t ignore—he’s developed into a powerful force in the middle of the lineup, and with his pop, don’t be surprised if he sends one over the fence or knocks in a run or two. On the mound, Brandon Walter gets the start and should give the Astros a solid five- or six-inning outing, limiting the Guardians’ damage and keeping the bullpen fresh.

On the Guardians’ side, it’s hard not to talk about Jose Ramirez—he’s been on another level at third base, topping the team in pretty much every offensive category. I think he stays hot, collecting a couple of hits and maybe even going yard if the Astros make a mistake. Look for Steven Kwan to set the table at the top of the lineup, chipping in with his classic patient approach and sneaky contact skills. Tanner Bibee, Cleveland’s young arm, should keep things close—he’s usually good for five or six efficient innings, racking up a few strikeouts and giving the Guardians a fighting chance if the bats can wake up.

With the Guardians looking to snap out of a three-game skid, there’s definitely a sense of urgency in Cleveland. But let’s be real: Houston comes in a little more consistent at the plate and seems to have a knack for squeaking out wins, even on the road. Given the Astros’ offensive firepower and their ability to execute in tight spots, I like them to edge this one out—even if the Guardians make it a dogfight. What do you think, are the Astros just rolling too strong right now, or can Cleveland pull off the upset at home?
