Reds vs Tigers predictions
The upcoming matchup at Comerica Park should be a fun one for Reds fans who love tracking their rising stars. Elly De La Cruz has been electrifying all season, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him stuff the stat sheet again—think a couple of hits, a run, maybe even swiping a base or driving in a run. TJ Friedl has quietly become one of the more consistent hitters in the Cincinnati lineup, and with his recent hot streak, I’d pencil him in for another multi-hit night and some action on the basepaths. On the mound, Brady Singer’s been solid, usually good for going five innings and ringing up a handful of strikeouts; he’s got what it takes to keep the Tigers’ lineup honest, even on the road.
Looking at the Detroit Tigers, Riley Greene just keeps turning heads, and he feels like the engine that makes this offense go. I’m betting we’ll see Greene spark at least one rally and keep his RBI total climbing, maybe with an extra-base hit tossed in. Spencer Torkelson’s got the power too, and he looks primed to take advantage of some hittable pitches in a hitter-friendly spot in the order. Jack Flaherty is the man to watch on the mound; he’s shown real command lately and is capable of notching strikeouts while working deep enough to set up Detroit’s bullpen for success. Detroit doesn’t run much, but the middle of that lineup—especially with Kerry Carpenter swinging a hot bat—could make life tough on Singer.
So with Detroit owning home-field advantage and a clear upper hand in the standings, I’m leaning toward the Tigers taking this one. Their combination of clutch offense and steady pitching seems just a little too much for the Reds, especially if Greene and Torkelson keep the bats humming. Cincinnati can definitely keep things interesting with their speed and surprise power, but in the end, I see Detroit doing just enough to secure another series win in front of their home crowd. What do you think—can the Reds pull off the upset?
