Diamondbacks vs Cardinals predictions
When it comes to the Arizona Diamondbacks, a few names jump out as ones to watch in this matchup. Corbin Carroll has been one of the team’s true sparks, and I’d expect him to grab at least a hit and maybe flex his power for an extra-base knock, possibly even leaving the yard if he really gets a pitch to handle. Ketel Marte is another D-back who seems to deliver in big spots, and with his sharp eye at the plate, he’s got a strong shot at reaching base multiple times—maybe chalking up a run or two while he’s at it. Don’t sleep on Geraldo Perdomo either; he’s been steady all season and could chip in with a couple of knocks and be a factor on the basepaths, especially if the bottom of the order gives him some help.
Shifting the spotlight over to the St. Louis Cardinals, Brendan Donovan looks primed for a productive night, and I see him racking up a couple of base hits, maybe even working a walk and scoring. Lars Nootbaar, always a threat in the middle of their lineup, seems due for a clutch RBI and could reach base more than once, keeping Arizona’s outfield on its toes. On the mound, Sonny Gray has been the steady presence the Cardinals hoped for, and he could punch out five or six batters and keep the Diamondbacks mostly in check through the middle innings. If the lineup can lend him just a smidge of run support, things could tilt in St. Louis’ favor.
So, who takes this one? Given how well the Cardinals have played at home, plus what Sonny Gray brings to the table, I think they have the edge here. Arizona’s offense has some pop, but with St. Louis clicking offensively and showing some real consistency on the mound, I’d lean toward the Cardinals breaking out the rally towels as the likely winners when the dust settles at Busch Stadium. Think the D-backs can snap their losing streak, or will the Redbirds keep things rolling? Either way, it’s shaping up to be a fun watch.
