Yankees vs Blue Jays predictions
If you’re keeping your eye on the New York Yankees, you know there’s some serious firepower in that lineup. Aaron Judge has been terrorizing pitchers all season and I expect him to keep raking, probably knocking in at least one extra-base hit and challenging for a home run at the Rogers Centre. Cody Bellinger should be good for a hit or two, and DJ LeMahieu always seems to find a way to get on base – so I wouldn’t be shocked to see him slap an RBI single. With Carlos Rodon taking the mound, you can look for a solid outing, with five or so innings, a handful of strikeouts, and a good chance he limits the Jays’ big bats early on.
On the flip side, Toronto’s stars aren’t just going to roll over. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is overdue for a big series, and I can see him coming through with a crucial extra-base knock and maybe a run scored for good measure. Alejandro Kirk has been swinging a hot bat from behind the plate, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to expect another multi-hit night from him. When Bo Bichette’s locked in, he’s a spark for this lineup, and he seems poised to drive in a run or two. Plus, having Max Scherzer on the bump is always a plus—he still has that knack for keeping hitters off-balance and piling up strikeouts, which has to give Blue Jays fans some confidence.
As for picking a winner, it’s a classic AL East showdown with both teams stacked and looking to climb higher in the standings. The Yankees have shown more consistency lately, especially with that lineup depth and Judge’s monster year, but Toronto is tough at home and Scherzer knows how to handle the big moments. It feels like one of those games that goes right down to the wire, but I’d lean just slightly toward the Yankees this time. It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Judge puts his stamp on the game, and New York squeaks out a close win. But hey, that’s why they play the games—anything can happen in the majors, and you never know who might play hero.
