Mets vs Rockies predictions
When the New York Mets roll into Coors Field to kick off this three-game series, all eyes are going to be on Pete Alonso. The guy’s been crushing it this season, and I’d fully expect him to keep that momentum going—honestly, another multi-hit game with a decent chance of sending one deep isn’t out of the question. Francisco Lindor brings that spark near the top of the order, and with his recent groove, he looks primed to rack up a couple of hits and maybe swipe a bag if given the chance. It’ll be hard not to notice Kodai Senga on the mound, too—a guy who can easily go five solid innings, collect a handful of strikeouts, and keep the Rockies’ lineup from catching any sort of rhythm.
Shifting over to the Colorado Rockies, Hunter Goodman is the one to watch if you’re hoping for fireworks from the home squad. He’s been the most reliable bat for Colorado, so don’t be surprised if he finds a gap or even leaves the yard, driving in a run or two to help his team. Ryan McMahon and Ezequiel Tovar both bring a little something to the plate as well, and there could be a few scattered hits between them. Still, with Antonio Senzatela taking the ball, the Rockies will need him to keep things together against this Mets lineup; a solid four to five innings and limiting damage is about as much as you can hope for in this one.
Putting it all together, it’s hard not to lean toward the Mets coming out on top in this matchup. With that lineup depth and Senga on the bump, New York just looks like the more complete team. The Rockies will have a few moments at home—maybe a rally or a long ball for the Coors Field faithful—but New York’s power and pitching depth should be enough for them to control the game from the outset. If you’re betting on a winner, the Mets just feel like the safer pick for this series opener.
