Chiefs vs Cardinals predictions
Let’s talk Chiefs, because whenever Kansas City takes the field, the spotlight usually finds Patrick Mahomes. You can almost count on him spreading the ball around, but keep an eye on Travis Kelce—he’s Mahomes’ go-to when things get tight. Don’t be surprised if Kelce racks up a handful of catches and finds the end zone at least once. As for the ground game, Isiah Pacheco should get his share of carries and might even break off a few chunk plays, especially against a Cardinals defense that has had some trouble containing running backs in the past. With that much firepower, KC’s offense could get rolling early.
Flipping over to the desert, the Cardinals are hoping Kyler Murray is ready to make some noise. If he’s looking sharp, his ability to escape pressure and make plays with his legs could really stress that Chiefs defensive front. On the outside, look for Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to be the main beneficiary of Murray’s attention—if the two connect early, it could open things up for everyone else. And don’t count out James Conner; if Arizona’s offense wants to keep pace, pounding the rock and keeping Mahomes off the field will be key.
So when it comes down to picking a winner, the odds are tilting toward Kansas City for a reason. The Chiefs just seem to have more weapons on offense and a knack for finding a way to win, especially when games get close late. Still, with this being Arizona’s home opener at State Farm Stadium, the energy will be high, and you can bet Murray will try to keep things interesting. In the end, though, I’d back Mahomes and company to come out on top, probably covering that narrow spread. Wouldn’t shock me if it’s a shootout, but the Chiefs feel like the safer pick here.
