Sun vs Fever predictions
For the Connecticut Sun, all eyes are on Tina Charles as she continues to carry much of the offensive load. She’s been putting up a solid 17 points per game and grabbing over six boards a night, so don’t be surprised if she once again finds herself leading the charge in the paint and taking on some extra scoring pressure. Marina Mabrey’s playmaking also comes into focus—even with her listed as day-to-day, if she suits up, her crafty assists and backcourt scoring could easily swing the momentum for Connecticut. But with Mabrey’s quad issue still lingering, her ability to push the pace and create opportunities for her teammates might be a little limited this time around.
Switching over to the Indiana Fever lineup, it’s hard not to notice the impact Caitlin Clark has had this season, racking up almost 19 points and over nine assists per game. However, with Clark out due to a quadriceps strain, Indiana is bound to look at other options to ramp up their offense. Expect Aliyah Boston to step deeper into the spotlight, especially dominating on the boards—she’s averaging a double-double pace as is. It seems like with Clark sidelined, the Fever's frontcourt presence will become even more critical, and players like Boston are likely itching to show they can pick up the slack and keep Indiana’s offensive rhythm on track.
All things considered, the Indiana Fever seem to have a slight edge in this matchup, even with their biggest star out. Home court advantage at Gainbridge Fieldhouse could give them the boost they need, especially if their supporting cast steps up and picks up where Clark left off. The Sun have been searching for their first win and have a challenge ahead, especially if Mabrey’s status remains uncertain. Given Indiana’s recent form and depth, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see the Fever pull off another win in front of their fans. What’s your gut feeling—is it Indiana’s night, or will Connecticut finally turn the corner?
