White Sox vs Rockies predictions

Let’s talk about what to expect from the Chicago White Sox as they roll into Coors Field with a 1-0 lead in the series. Andrew Benintendi has found a bit of a groove lately, and I like his chances to make an impact near the top of the lineup. I’m thinking we’ll see him grab at least a hit, possibly sneak in a double or even clear the wall for a homer if he catches one just right. Jonathan Cannon is set to take the mound—he’s been steady and, if he can keep his cool, I see him tossing five solid innings with a handful of strikeouts and keeping the Rockies’ bats mostly in check. I’ve also got my eye on Miguel Vargas to drive in a run and maybe rack up another hit or two, given his recent plate presence.

Switching over to the Colorado Rockies, you can never count out the heart they bring at home, despite their record. Look for Hunter Goodman to stay hot in the middle of that order—he’s been swinging a solid bat and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him notch another RBI and get on base a couple of times. Brenton Doyle’s speed could come into play in the spacious outfield at Coors, possibly snagging an extra base knock or even swiping a bag if he gets the green light. German Marquez is the X-factor on the mound; while he hasn’t always dominated, he’s capable of putting up some zeros, and if he gets into a groove early, the White Sox could have their hands full trying to produce runs.

So, how does it play out? The White Sox might have a slight edge with their early series lead, but the Rockies can be sneaky at home, even with those struggles in their own park this season. If the Sox lineup can scrape together some timely hits behind Cannon’s pitching, I think they’ll have what it takes to take another game here. Still, you can’t ignore that Coors Field always seems to produce wildcards—the ball carries a bit farther, and comebacks happen fast. In the end, though, I’m leaning Chicago to keep the momentum rolling and snag another win in Colorado. Baseball’s funny, though—you never really know until that final out.
